10 TRUTHS EVERYONE SHOULD ACCEPT IN LIFE
1.
You are responsible for your own success. You can’t rely on your
parents, your coworkers, or your friends to make it happen for you. Ultimately,
your success is your responsibility.
2.
Your happiness is not based on the amount of stuff you have but
on the quality of your relationships.
3.
Put on your own face mask first. You won’t be able to provide any
constructive help if you haven’t taken care of your own health. And by health,
I mean mental, physical, financial, relationship, emotional, spiritual, and all
around health.
4.
You’ve heard of stretching your muscles, right? In the same way,
you need to stretch your mind, your heart, and your comfort zone.
5.
Don’t take judgment on your emotions. They are information. Are
you angry, scared, encouraged, expectant, relieved, curious, enthused, or
joyous? That’s awesome. Be aware of your emotions, practice mindfulness, and work
on your emotion vocabulary.
6.
Be curious. Be humble. Don’t have all the answers.
7.
Life is finite. There is a line and it will end someday. Plan to
make the most of today while planning for tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow,
invest for retirement early. Put away a good amount of saving every year in an
aggressive portfolio. Meeting “the market” is good enough. Do this for 20 or 30
years and you’ll be well prepared for retirement.
8.
You will be more satisfied with a smaller amount of higher
quality food than a whole large amount of low quality food. This goes for
relationships, employment, vacations, etc.
9.
Get stuck with good habits. You’ve heard of muscle memory, for
athletes? I believe in muscle memory for your behavior. So if you want to be a
good person, practice being a good person. It’s that simple.
10.
Finally, if you want joy, spread joy.
